The Curriculum section of the Curriculum, Measurement and Evaluation Unit is responsible for the development, management and implementation of the National Curriculum.

The developmental functions of the Unit include:

• Establishment of subject teams for each key stage of education
• Development if programmes of study and curriculum guides for each key stage
• Preparation of teacher resource materials
• Evaluation and review of curricula materials
• The publication of the Ministry’s magazine ‘Education Matters’

Officers from the Unit monitor the implementation of the curriculum though school visits and classroom observations. Visits serve to assist teachers in lesson planning and delivery and help ensure that there is adherence to the national curriculum.
