The principal functions of the School Operations Unit include coordinating the work of Education Officers, Learning Support Advisors, Guidance Counsellors, the Coordinator/Special Education and the Assistant Education Officer-Preschools.

The Unit arranges for the deployment of Principals and for staffing. The Operations Unit conducts development and training programmes for teachers and Principals.

The evaluation of school programmes and activities through External School Reviews is also a key function of the Unit. The Unit is supervised by the Assistant Chief Education Officer
